HELP SAVE MORE CATS BY FOSTERING

While most community cats are content living outside, the colder winter months can be harsh. If you are an animal lover, please think about fostering. This selfless act frees up valuable space, so the shelters can take in more cats without homes.

WHAT IS SCOOTER SAFARI SQUAD?

Community cats that enter the Trap Neuter Return program (see below) are automatically welcomed into the Scooter™ Safari Squad. This means they are living, breathing examples of how outdoor spayed and neutered cats can peacefully coexist with humans — in every neighborhood.

WHAT IS TRAP NEUTER RETURN (TNR)?

TNR is the most humane and effective way to control feline overpopulation for community cats. Basically, a volunteer transports a community cat to a clinic for vaccination and spay/neuter. Then, the trapper brings the cat back to its community for a safe reunion with other cats and human friends.

KNOW A COMMUNITY CAT?

If you’d like to nominate a community cat for Scooter’s Safari Squad, please send us a photo of the cat, their name (if they have one) and the neighborhood where they live. For bonus points, tell us something about the cat’s personality. We’ll share your community cat’s photo and story on Facebook and Instagram, and they could become an official ambassador for your neighborhood!

SAFARI ADVICE FOR HOOMANS

1. Please leave community kittens where you found them. They may look helpless (and adorable!), but mom is likely out searching for their next meal.

2. If you’re feeding a community cat, please take responsibility and call us for spay/neuter. We’ll make sure your cat friend is spayed or neutered and safely returned.

3. If you see a cat with a tipped ear, the animal has already been spayed or neutered. For more information, please read Scooter’s helpful field guide.
